AstraZeneca investors have received a double dose of good news, following strong first half results and US endorsement of its blood thinning treatment Brilinta. Astra has also raised its earnings per share target for the year by 30 cents to a range of $6.35 to $6.65. July 29, 2010 · Comment on this story

• Failure to capture Martin Jol forced the club to look elsewhere• New manager expected to be backed in the transfer market Mark Hughes has accepted an offer from Fulham to become the club’s new manager. The Welshman will succeed Roy Hodgson, who left in the summer to join Liverpool, and his appointment has disappointed Sven-Goran Eriksson, who had been under consideration. Mohamed Al Fayed, the Fulham chairman, had turned to Hughes after the failure to prise Martin Jol from his contract at Ajax last week. But Hughes’s capture represents a coup for the west London club, who have... [Read the full story]

Postcards Go Virtual With SwingVine Gallery For The iPhone

July 29, 2010 · Comment on this story

People don’t send postcards anymore. Why bother when you can photo MMS a friend? Attempting to restore some of the social experience behind photography, SwingVine has created SwingVine Gallery, an app that attempts to bring back some of the mystique and enjoyment of social photo sharing. Using your iPhone’s camera and GPS, the SwingVine Gallery app allows you to send a photo to a friend “secretly,” a photo that they are unable to see unless they also participate by sending a photo back, sort of like a mobile game of photo tag. While both the idea and the app interface are... [Read the full story]

Bezos On iPad: “You are not going to improve Hemingway by adding video snippets.”

Amazon’s Kindle has always been an interesting device to me. When I first heard about it in late 2007, I was sure I wouldn’t want one. It was awkward looking and at $399, way too expensive. But when the second iteration came in 2009 with a sleeker look, I decided to buy one to see what all the fuss was about. I quickly learned to love it. That... [Read more of this story]

So Is The iPhone An “iPhone Killer” Killer?

This morning, Reuters published this article. On their site, it seems fairly innocuous, with the title “RIM stock jumps as market eyes revamped BlackBerry” but that wasn’t the original title. And it’s not the one Reuters syndication partners are picking up. That title is “RIM seen unveiling ‘iPhone killer’... [Read more of this story]

Grace Digital’s Tuner Wireless Radio & Media Player adds internet radio to existing stereos

So, we’ve two main issues here. One, who in their right mind would pay $219.99 for a device that still requires a dedicated stereo in order to play back the internet radio streams that Grace Digital’s Tuner Wireless Radio & Media Player delivers? And secondly, who would want to put up with Grace Digital’s thoroughly lackluster... [Read more of this story]

Evatran’s Plugless Power gives your wheels a wireless proximity-based charge

Trading gas nozzles for electric sockets may be the green thing to do — in more ways than one — but wouldn’t plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles be that much sweeter if you could just forget about the plug?
